Nemesis


Nemeses are formed from the remaining equipment of powerful warriors slain by the Harbingers. Animated by the Harbingers' lingering aura of despair, their animosity towards those that slew their former bearers extends to all travelers, not just those who serve Orobyss as Harbingers. They lie in wait for one to attempt to claim their items, and then coalesce into a formidable being of metal and wrath to exact vengeance.

Free them from their torment and use the trapped magic to empower items as your reward. Some Nemeses in the endgame may even allow you to exchange their unique for one of the player's unique items with no Legendary Potential or Weaver's Will, allowing it to be transformed into a Legendary or to be enhanced with Legendary Potential.

When interacting with the Nemesis, there are 3 options to choose from: 

  1. Banish will remove the Nemesis and avoid a fight. Your next Nemesis encounter will be with a new Nemesis that will have a new set of item rewards. 
  2. Challenge will start the fight with the Nemesis and if defeated, will grant its items as rewards. Your next Nemesis encounter will be with a new Nemesis that will have a new set of item rewards. 
  3. Empower will start the fight with the Nemesis and if defeated, it will escape through a rift. You will then encounter this same Nemesis later, and it and its items have been Empowered. This upgrades items in various ways, such as gaining affixes, increasing tiers of existing affixes, or adding Forging Potential. You can choose to Empower the Nemesis and its items twice before you must either Challenge or Banish it.
