Circle of Fortune is an Item Faction that grants powerful benefits towards finding more and better items. You’ll be able to align with the Circle of Fortune for the first time during Chapter 9. Unlike the Merchant's Guild, items found while aligned with Circle of Fortune will always be untradable (they can still be gifted) and if found from Prophecies or through Rank rewards, will also be bound to Circle of Fortune, making it impossible to equip them if aligned with the Merchant’s Guild.
When aligning with the Circle of Fortune for the first time, you’ll start at rank 1. As you gain Reputation from gaining experience or spending Favor with the Faction by either purchasing Prophecies at the Observatory or spending at the Faction’s representative, you’ll gain higher ranks which yields greater benefits from the Faction. For more details on the benefits from ranks gained while aligned with Circle of Fortune, you can open the Factions panel (bound to Y by default).
The Observatory is a town area where players aligned with Circle of Fortune are able to seek out Prophecies from Telescopes for Favor. Prophecies cause certain items to drop when completing a specific event, like slaying the boss of a specific Dungeon.
The Observatory also contains a Faction representative that can be used to spend Favor by purchasing equippable items and Lenses. Lenses are items that can be used to customize the Prophecies to further target what items are rewarded and types of events Prophecies require to complete. Higher ranks within the Faction allow deeper customization of the Telescope with Lenses.
